Metabolism: what exactly is it, and how does it affect us?

By Luzmar

Metabolism is a process in which nutrients are acquired, transported, used, and then finally disposed of by the body. This means that our bodies need fuel, which comes from the foods that you eat.

Do not fight blindly against something, the best you can do is act most intelligently, nourishing yourself with information to combat what you want to eliminate.

That is why you should know what metabolism is and how it influences your training, diet, and goals.

Metabolism consists of a series of chemical reactions that occur in the cells of the body; it is a relationship between the amount of energy that is burned from the calories consumed.

Calories are burned in physical activities, but calories are also consumed in basic organic processes such as eating, breathing, thinking, and sleeping.

You can accelerate your metabolism with awareness, without skipping meals. There is a false belief that by stop eating, we will lose weight; on the contrary, by eating this way, the body assimilates everything we eat because it thinks that we are in a state of “malnutrition” and must store as much energy as possible.

Likewise, weight training helps accelerate the metabolism, when you start building muscle mass, more calories are burned, and the body demands more food and more often.

In conclusion, your metabolism is not an excuse to achieve your goals; instead, it is your vehicle to reach the body you want; you just have to know how to handle it.
